Good morning Mirko, I am Giacomo, the physiotherapist who worked with you today.
This was my first time working with you since you woke up, but I have had the chance to get to know you through the accounts of my colleagues who looked after you over the past few days.
Today, together with Paul (your nurse), we helped you into the armchair; you also managed to sit on the edge of the bed for a few seconds without support.
Then, during the day, you also used the exercise bike and did some exercises to strengthen your legs and arms.
You are still very weak, and it will certainly take many more days to recover fully, but you seem to be a very determined person, so I am sure you will make it.
You are still using the tracheostomy to breathe, but we are working to make your breathing spontaneous and independent.
Today you used the speaking valve again and we had a little chat.
I will see you again in the coming days; in the meantime, I wish you the best of luck!
Giacomo (the physiotherapist)
