Good morning Mr. Achermann,
This is Maura again.

This morning, after your personal care, I positioned you on your left side, facing the light coming through the window (today is a beautiful sunny day and it almost feels like spring).

We paused one sedative to see if you wake up and we can make contact with you; at the moment you open your eyes when called.
You are unable to move, as staying in bed for so long has inevitably weakened you.
I explained to you that you are still in intensive care and that everything is fine; that you must be patient to heal and regain your strength.

Later (I am resuming writing now) we placed you in the prone position again, after resuming sedation.
We took all the necessary time for these maneuvers to perform them safely, since you are on the ventilator through the tracheostomy, and to position you as comfortably as possible. You will remain in this position for several hours, but they will change your pressure points to prevent injuries and provide you relief.

Until tomorrow.
Maura
